The Alpena News has a done a wonderful job of covering our various
events, such as the yearly TBTA Candlelight Ski at Norway Ridge Pathway and the
celebration of National Trails Day on June 2, 2001 at Norway Ridge Pathway.
The celebration of National Trails Day on June 2, 2001, included the
unveiling of a new wood routed sign completed as an Eagle Scout project by Darin
Kendziorski. Other events included media coverage by Alpena's Bay 108
radio station, mountain bike demonstrations by Rogers City bike shop - Tour
America, and guest speakers Duane Hoffman (MDNR recreation division) and State
Representative Andy Neuman.
The 1st annual Hubbard Lake Mandjidiwan Days Mountain Bike race on June
23, 2001 was a big success. The race was hosted at TBTA member, Randy
Fairbank's house, and utilized the Chippewa Hills pathway. The event was
sponsored and supported by the Thunder Bay Trails Association, Midwest Dominion
Energy, the MDNR, Rogers City Tour America, Alpena Ace Hardware, Coca-Cola,
Foster's Bike Repair, and Culligan water.
